A night bazaar held for the benefit of of the Department of Social Welfare and Development
Reception and Study Center for Children (DSWD-RSCC) was recently organized by the
Consulate of the Republic of San Marino in the Philippines at the Warehouse Eight
in Makati City.
Called “Swap it Up”, the bazaar required customers to bring their old clothes and
items at home and donate it or exchange them with other items from the bazaar. Merchants
who promoted healthy living and eco-friendliness joined the bazaar and sold food,
paintings, clothes, and other products.
“More than just providing financial support to some notable causes, the consulate
has begun actively supporting and spearheading fundraising events as part of its
social responsibility initiatives. We are proud that the Consulate of the Republic
of San Marino in the Philippines has become instrumental in giving second chances
to the children of the Reception and Study Center program of the DSWD through funds
raised by the bazaar,” Consul General of the Republic of San Marino to the Philippines
and Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier said.
The bazaar aims to reduce carbon footprint emission and promote “clean fashion”
instead of fast fashion, dubbed “as the second dirtiest industry in the world” by
high-end clothing industry magnate and environmentalist Eileen Fisher.
Magic shows and open microphone segments were also held and organized by the students
from the Philippine Women’s University (PWU) who also took part in the event.
