The Consulate General of San Marino participated for the first time in the recently held Euro Summit 2009 last 31 January. With the theme "Crossing the Cultural Divide: Uniting the Multiplicity of the Views through Intercultural Dialogue," the Summit was held at the Diosdado Macapagal Auditorium of the University of the Philippines Diliman. It was participated in by students from different Philippine universities, prominent members of the academe, and some distinguished representatives from the diplomatic community in Manila and private individuals from related fields.
In line with the European Parliament’s 2008 European Year of Dialogue agenda, the Summit focused on the pertinent issues that affect both the local and global level. Furthermore, the participation of the Consulate General of San Marino provided an interesting addition to the culturally diverse line-up of topics that highlighted its theme of cultural exchange. In addition to the mix of cultural presentations and talks, performances from different cultural groups of the Philippines’ premier university were also shown to demonstrate the rich culture of our country..
Part of the Summit program was a presentation about the “Ten Things That You Should Know about San Marino” and an interactive game co-facilitated with the Summit organizers. The winners of the 10 questions based from the San Marino presentation were awarded with commemorative mugs, pins and paperweights as prizes. San Marino wines were given as token to the distinguished speakers.
